The Twelve Steps; Alcoholics Anonymous 1939
Step 1. We admitted we were powerless over alcohol—that our lives had become unmanageable. (Step 1 Inspirational QUOTES)
Step 2. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to Sanity.
Step 3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we
understood Him.
Step 4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.
Step 5. Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature
of our wrongs.
Step 6. Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.
Step 7. Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.
Step 8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make
amends to them all.
Step 9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do
so would injure them or others.
Step 10. Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly
admitted it.
Step 11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with
God, as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us
and the power to carry that out.
Step 12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these Steps, we tried to
carry this message to alcoholics, and to practice these principles in all our
affairs.

What are the 12 Steps? Will they cure me?

SIck???
The disease needs treatment like any other malady. The best proven therapy “we” say, …is the detox/rehab/fellowship that prepares you to be committed, to doing a 90 meetings in 90 days, as it’s that humility, that will bring you into the fellowship that will save your life.
Detoxes and rehabs are almost worthless without them helping you in making a commitment to meetings afterwards. They are statistically tenuous at best. You may be educated in recovery when yo
Parents, give it up, money won't make a difference. AA or NA will, and it's free!
Think you need a non-12 step rehab, good luck. When you get out you'll have little for support other than a perverted prideful ego. Only a new spiritual outlook can sustain ongoing recovery, is the common experience and what all of AA NA literature is based on.
That is why this website is one in thousands, as we are not trying to sell rehab beds. The best rehab may be the humblest. Get humble now, or you might die!
Remember: “there is no power greater than that of one xxx helping another.” Or: ‘Fellowship first, for it you should thirst.’ Then 12 steps…et cetera.
Having trouble with the "God of your understanding"...alcoholic or addict: read, WE AGNOSTICS from the Big Book ?! It's truly a classic on spirituality, for those in or out of recovery too!
Warning: our books are an excellent resource for what is termed in step 11 as “we sought,” as all are inter-faith works without bias of the author. The main book in this series is not recommended for new-comers.
However, the quotes book and Journal are for anyone. The quotes book is also designed for those who may never have read a book before and makes 12 step ‘step-work’ fun, for anyone.

Yes,
the humility found in step 1 will save your life!
The Twelve Steps have been modified over the years, here the Smithsonian Institutes National Museum for the Native American, Resource Center aided author in developing this 12 step version.

_A "first" of anything is a
beginning, and so it is with the steps: The First Step is the beginning
of the recovery process. The healing starts here; we can't go any
further until we've worked this step. Some ... choose to work Step One
in a more systematic fashion. Our reasons for formally working Step One
will vary from member to member...
Whatever the case, it's time to do
some step work: to engage in some concrete activity that will help us
find more freedom... Our hope is to internalize the principles of Step One, to deepen
our surrender, to make the principles a fundamental part of who we
are. (Per one 12 step fellowships literature)
